Suite101 Interview Questions for SYTYCD Finalists
Which dance that judges recognized for it's WOW factor will you perform tonight?
Brandon: “It's my Cha Cha with Janette.” (Judge Nigel Lythgoe proclaimed this as the “best ever Cha Cha on the show.”)
Kayla: “The ‘Addiction’ piece (choreographed by Mia Michaels) with Kupono.
The dances on the tour are favorites of both the judges and fans.”
What was the most difficult form of dance you had to learn?
Brandon: “The Argentine Tango. We only have four hours to learn a dance. I had never danced it and the choreographer spoke in Spanish!”
Kayla: The Samba, because the special techniques in ballroom dancing require years of training to learn.”
Did you find the live tour more difficult than expected and how?
Brandon: “We have to get on our tour bus and leave right after the show. But, the boy’s bus is more fun than the girl’s!”
Kayla: “The tour is physically exhausting. We are constantly moving and have no downtime. We sometimes don’t know what day it is or where we are!”
What is your favorite thing about this whole SYTYCD experience?
Brandon and Kayla: “Meeting the fans and traveling the states.”
Brandon added, “Seeing so much love and joy for dance.”
Have you made any plans for after the tour?
Brandon: “I’ve been signed by MSA (McDonald Selznick Associates dance reps) and plan to move into an apartment in L.A. with Ade and Jonathan.”
Kayla: “I’m also moving to California and looking forward to going on auditions for dance, movies and whatever comes my way.”
